Anyway everywhere is the same. Been there done that. There are lot of sadist around in law - ppl become like that bcos of many reasons, chiefly bcos (1) they were treated like that as juniors, (2) they have personal issues (like being dumped by an ex heartlessly and they just want to make sure you also break up), (3) they have their own agendas to eliminate competition (so they can get promoted).
This morning I’m taking the train to work cos got work to do. Train is pretty empty - so you know my predicament

I’m very jealous that one of my fellow trainees in my team topped his/her cohort in law school and also placed top few in part A. I’m just a mediocre trainee with average results. What are my chances of getting retained? Why are such people competing and not going elsewhere?

Why don’t you work harder and be better than her?
How come your firm retention is based on Bar results and not the quality of actual work performed? Just curious

LOL.
If dont fight back, then just swallow pride and suffer in silence in face of injustice.
Ain’t lawyers supposed to be pursuaive to argue our way through?
Law is not the only way to make a living, you know? Why choose to get bullied and suffer the stress?
