You should first ask yourself why you’re putting baker and cc in the same sentence

Yes this is correct. CC these days is a bit of a joke. Still, Simmons is way below either firm. Don't waste time unless using as stepping stone.

Did quite badly in SMU, around 3.1/4.0. Only got TC offers from mid-size firms such as BR Law. Should I take it and jump to a better firm after my TC? Is it even possible with my grades? Feeling quite demoralised

Meh. Grades are only useful for getting a TC. Everything after that is based on your experience and your capabilities. Also, it's a lot easier to make a lateral move after you've completed your TC.
Don't be disheartened.

Why people on this thread whole day just talking about Baker and CC when there are so many better and higher paying firms out there? Is it cos the only people who come here are law students looking for TCs?

Keep your head up high. Just work hard when you’re in practice.
Some of us have parental help, some gotta do this ourselves.
Everyone has gotta run their own race.
Just don’t out your offers like that next time though. Now the HR knows who you are.

You should be thankful that you got 3.1 which is above the minimum 3.0 needed to be a qualified person. Many of your peers cannot even get 3.0. Be contented with what u have.
