2.2k is way below the market rate for degree holders, if ur not in need for money no point in taking up.

Yea..u are you. I too think that hospital being a so call statboard should pay higher to entice fresh graduates to join the already staff deprived healthcare sector. I was surprised when my friend with the hons degree told me that she was getting 2.6. For TS, I think it could be because your deg is non-local that is why they put u at a lower grade. My friends with local deg they head straight to executive position, but yours is an assistant position which is usually given to diploma holders. In that sense, I believe they pay u slightly higher like 400-500 dollars more for your degree while diploma holders get somewhere like 1.6 - 1.8. There is salary scheme they use to determine your starting salary and that is why I doubt they will allow you to negotiate as that could disrupt the entire system. My opinion is, healthcare is tiring and not as well paid as other sector. If you have the passion and heart to serve the community then can consider staying, otherwise, get the experience and hop elsewhere.

Regardless of what position, 2.2k is way below the market rate?

I also thought healthcare sector should pay higher too, cause I work at TTSH during my poly intern and the pay is $800. By right, a degree graduate should be higher since they already pay so much for poly intern. I am surprise that your friend is getting 2.6k since she is from local uni. I thought local degree should get >2.8k. The requirement of my position is O-level with 2 year exp, not min. diploma. I applied the position through Jobstreet and the salary range is actually around my expected salary of 2.5k, that I stated in Jobstreet, that why I applied for it. They should be ready to pay me my expected salary since they called me down for interview. But they offered me 2.2k because they said I did not have relevant experience and it is an account assistant position. Will try to nego for higher pay. If really can't, I still be working for the 6-month contract while looking for other job rather than be jobless with no income.

2.2k is slightly above average for fresh diplomas. if you spend time & $$$ to buy a degree and still cannot get a pay that is better than a poly guy and have to suffer from being a contractor with lousy bonus & benefit, this one really bad deal.

yea. i know 2.2 is a bad deal given I spend money, effort and time to get a degree. but I no exp and it is an assistant position, I don't know what to use as chip to successfully nego for higher starting pay. and I also have been jobless for going 5 months already.

What benefit should a 6-month contract staff get so is reasonable?

The whole idea of hiring contract is to save on the benefits, bonus and easy to fire by just not renewing after 6 months.

TBH I think NxG is just looking for cheap labour and a quick hire to help out in ad-hoc sai gang, negotiate also no use one. If you cannot wait and need money desperately then take up loh. But you might need to exclude this in your CV cauz it looks really bad.

I tried to nego. but failed. the HR said what they can give me is the max. I tried using my friends salary to nego but she said diff org pay diff. I also tried to tell her that fresh grad salary is 2.6 of what I research out then she keep telling me that I no experience and that the position is an assistant position that why the company offer 2.2. I also tried telling her that contract staff should be pay higher cause no benefit given but all in all she tell me I no experience that why no higher pay.

So frustrating! I only trying to ask for 100 to 200 increase in the base salary. She keep using that I have no experience to rebut me. I told my parent about it then my parent ask me to work first, if got better opportunity then hop over to other company.
