I am in this company for about 3years and for increment the max they will go is only 3%. In this industry, overtime pay is given to contract staffs regardless of how high your salary is so practically most of them work overtime for the money. After 5pm and during weekends, most of them are just lazing around clocking ot pay.
For my case im fortunate enough to still hold a job but i have been searching for a job since early 2017 till now. I apply to jobs every single day and received about 10 interviews. Recently I just went through 2 rounds of interview at a gov company(my dream job to be working in CS), the 2nd round was shortlisted to 4 candidate so my chances of being selected was narrowed to 25%. Few days ago, I received a rejected email from Career@gov and I was feeling so exhausted and defeated... The feeling of getting the job bcus you have done well and not getting it, it just feels horrible..
I am not gonna let this hinder my career path and I am going to take on toastmasters and other relevant courses to further improve my career.. so bros and sis here, dont give up!! Press on! Best of luck!

Just a question. Why did you start off with 2.4 as a grad? I believe oil n gas has good bonus.
I am in oil and gas and dont think 2.4 is the norm. I believe it is due to contract.

I am not the original poster, but I am curious why you say the low pay is due to contract. I thought contract staff supposed to earn more than permanent staff or at least on par.

How you guys stay positive??
I am the fresh grad with 2.2 hons local business degree.
I fk up my year 1 sem studies, wasn't able to adapt, and wasn't able to get streamed into the hotter specialisations like finance.
Ended up in marketing, which I have no interested at all and I had to climb my way back to 2.2 hons, but just short of 0.1 gpa to 2nd uppers.
Alot of jobs keep saying need Good Hons.
Dam sians when I see my friends with 2.1 go all those management jobs/ trainee.
Such a big difference between 2.1 and 2.2.
My daily routine is -
Wake up late --> Eat --> Apply --> Eat--> Maybe exercise --> sleep late
Hit rates are low, usually rejected before the interviewing stage.
Why alot of entry jobs now at executive levels becoming 1-2 years experience?
I only have experience from internships sia.
I tried applying for internships as well to get some exp, but seems like once u grad, most companies do not want u.

Good bonus only applies to perm staffs. The reason they gave is because I am a fresh grad without any experience... I am not as talented as those who got in as a graduate scheme trainee. Which company are you in may I ask? haha

I have just recently lost my job as my foreigner boss has the intention of hiring his own kind. Very demoralising even though my work performance was good. Hope to get a job soon as I don't have years of experience unliek most of you here. Every additional month of unemployment will just land me in a very unfavourable position.
