Default Anyone receive updates from MOE(with teaching qualification)

I applied teaching position this Jan and until now haven't received any updates. As for the status in career@gov portal, it still shows "submitted".

Anyone receive updates from MOE?

They mention if you do not receive any news after 8 weeks from application you can take it as unsuccessful. I applied in Jan too and went for interview on late feb but mine was for without teaching qualifications.

Hi, I‘ve just been offered a job at one of the ministry division, which I hav accepted by email. For ur existing appointment, like child’s medical appointment, is it required to let HR know about it in advance, since it will probably be within the first 3 months of employment, even though it’s only 1 day leave?

And I read thru some of the posts, and noted many advised to resign only after the contract is signed at vital. Anyone resign before that? Cos was thinking to take a week rest before the next job... but not sure if the risk is too big to take?

Timeline as follow.
First Week Jan- Sent in application
Second Week Jan - Received an assignment with one week deadline. 4 questions to choose from and wrote in research essay style
Early Feb - Shortlisted and arranging for interview
Mid Feb - Went for interview and got accepted the next morning. Interview was extremely grilling. 5 cases of which one is a written assignment. Understand it differs from department to department. Was offered 3 departments to choose from, of which 2 were what I applied for.
Third week Feb - HR called to outline general package
Second week Mar - Received official letter of offer

Hope this helps other fellow applicants
Meaning that stat boards don't wait until the application period closes before they screen and call candidates for interview?

Hope to hear your reply or from any he personnel here. Im sure many of us are wondering too, and hope to have a better idea whether the 'submitted' status means got hope until application period closes? Or should we just give up and assume our application has fallen into the black hole if there is no call within 1 - 2 weeks of submission?

No, the template email they send to every applicant is:

"If you are shortlisted for an interview, we will be in touch with you within 8 weeks after the job application closes with more information. In the meantime, please track the status of your application on Careers@Gov."

8 weeks AFTER the job APPLICATION CLOSES. Some applications (cs / sb) are open for 2 to 3 months but it seems that some get shortlisted within a few days or a week of applying, way ahead of the application deadline. While many others have to keep guessing with their status remaining as 'submitted' or 'in process'.

Would be good if anyone from hr or knows people in cs / sb hr can help shed some light on the hiring practices, even if its likely to be quite varied. Until then, we can just assume that if there is no change in the status or calls 2 weeks after submitting our application, means there is no hope, because aome others have likely been shortlisted. Move on and apply for other jobs and agencies. Don't wait in vain for 8 weeks.

Those writing here, including me, are looking for a job in very difficult times. Unemployment is very high in sg, even for those from the big 3 unis. Those who can help with your insights and knowledge, please do. Those who are currently employed, be human by keeping sarcasm to yourself because those who are unemployed have mouths to feed, savings running out and high chance are very depressed over the hopelessness of the unemployment situation.

If there are multiple positions (like 5, for example) at a stat board that I am interested in, should I apply for everything or apply for one and say I am interested in 5?

Sometimes the HR person dealing with each position is not the same, but other times it’s the same, right?

Sorry, just saw this.

I don't think they had a hard deadline to fill the position so they wouldn't screen for all potential applicants before deciding. If they found a good candidate they wanted, they wouldn't hesitate to offer asap.

I guess my honors (even though im mid career) and paper writing skill helped in the process.

Feel you can apply for 2 to 3 but not too many. They will either try to arrange seperate interview of have a combined interview. They might recommend other positions they feel you might be suitable for too.

I feel the application status are not accurate and it varies for every ministry. Have applied for many different ministries and observed the inaccuracy. However there are few that are very fast in rejecting if they didn't want you, but I do appreciate them for not keeping me hanging.
