It's normal procedure for Micron and a few other companies in Singapore.

They hire 3rd party background checking agents to call your company, find out who your manager is and ask for references, history, etc.

Yes it's stupid especially because you obviously DONT WANT your manager to know you're looking for other jobs right? Some companies are just straight up dogshit and unethical.

They only do it when they are about to offer or when they suspect something is wrong.
