They hit GEO1A3 before/in 2015. Or, they hit GEO1A2 before/in 2015, and had a short remaining runway after 2015 to be promoted to GEO5.

Or, they're a high tier scholar.

Assuming you are an experienced teacher, and not a mid-career BT, a better indicator of whether your CEP is at GEO5 or in the SEO grades is whether your school is grooming/prepping you to take on ST/SH/LH/AYH roles in the near future or not. If they are not preparing you to take on higher responsibility, your CEP is not above GEO5.

oh yes! Those definitely exist. It's good to see that at least some form of recognition is given for people who have demonstrated the potential to take on higher appointment, despite the progression bottleneck.

How to test this? Just press apply in the system and the message will prompt? I’m assuming there are other steps before the application goes through right haha. Can’t be that when you press apply immediately it goes through

Same...highest I have got was C+. Coming to 7 years at GEO 4. Previously I took ard 3 years to move from GEO 3 to 4 and my grades had always been average too.

Is this not normal for people who have no disciplinary issues? Sorry if I’m wrong. I thought it is normal because my friend got it at 34..9 years in service

Possible. If they are helming SH appointment and above, then GEO4 to 5 can be as quick as 2 years. Likely good CEP + good performance by being a KP at that substantive grade

Seen a couple of long-sitting HOD humanities across secondary schools becoming lead teachers in the past two years. Wonder if they are asked to do so by MOE to make way for leadership renewal. Other subjects experiencing this as well?

There is both push and pull.

Pull: If you have kept up with recent things said by political office holders, they are expanding the numbers of Lead and Master Teachers across the fraternity. So there are LT vacancies opening up and the Teaching Track bottleneck is no longer as narrow.

Push: Leadership renewal lor. Or the HODs themselves are tired of the constant s&&t especially during covid years and choose to cross over instead of step down back to HOT.
