Yes. But what's the point?

If they want to promote internally, they would have announced the opening before OPE to the staff alr. Everyone in school is vying for the limited KP slots, so there should be no shortage of takers. To put up position for OPE, it shows that the SLs have already decided that no one in school is suitable.

Don't waste your time.

Maybe you can apply for the same position in another school, and see if your P counter-offer with that position you are talking about.

Yes, and whichever level (Pri/Sec), same also.

But differ by your honours. 1st/2ndU/2ndL/3rd or no honours
All got difference (a few hundred)

So the difference in starting pay between 1st class and 3rd or no honours, can be easily 600 to 800.

No. PGDE will have higher salary.

The NIE grad is paid degree-level pay only after graduation, when they are emplaced on GEO2.

The PGDE person is already a degree grad, so they are GEO2 when they commence pgde. They will have 1 yr increment during their pgde, so their starting pay upon actual teaching is 1 increment higher than NIE fresh grads.

Pgde bond is 3 yr while NIE bond is 4yr. Assuming everything else is equal (degree classification, performance), the salaries of both person should be similar at the point of bond completion.

Technically you can. But logically you shouldn't. What the other post above mentioned is correct about the school leaders posting it up meaning they don't see any potential replacements in the school.

Also, when they see your application, they will be raising questions such as "Why did you not make your request known to us/RO?". This indirectly questions your ability as a KP to communicate and network. So it will affect you negatively too.

The most direct way is to approach RO or even SLs themselves, and mention that you spotted this OPE from your school. And inform that you would like to be considered. At least you get a direct answer and reason if they are not considering you.

NIE route before salary revision (2022),
Female - 3.6k or 3.9k
Male - 3.9k or 4.1k

Anyone care to fill us in on the PGDE route? (non mid-careers)

If constantly gets C and not promoted, annual increment is around $150.

Prior to the pay revision, ceiling for geo 3 was around $5.6k.
For FCH holders, their pay should be around $4.8k when they get geo3.
The gap between their geo3 starting pay and geo3 ceiling isn't very far. If they don't promote to geo4, they will hit the ceiling within 4-5 years.

Most likely his pay stagnated because hit or nearing ceiling. Last year's revision would have raised the ceiling, but most likely will still face the salary ceiling problem if don't promote to geo4.

PGDE female here, officially grad and posted to school 2018. Starting salary was 3.6k also.
Older brother PGDE male with NS, officially posted to school 2015, starting salary 3.9k

I think it's the same..

Why are there 2 values for each gender?

iirc the difference between no honours and 3rd is very big.

Prior to revision, think those with no honours, starting pay can be as low as $2.8k.
That's like more than $1k difference compared to FCH holders.

Because they are so far away from the salary ceiling, their promotion is slower as those who are nearing or already at the ceiling will be promoted first. Also, because of their lower base, the annual increments are also pathetic, and can be below $100.

Know of people like this, only hit 5k after 10 years of service, consistent C grade, annual increment between $70-120.

didn't include the NS 2 years.
8 years from the point of being posted to first school after PGDE.
promotion appeal through HRP - but withdrawn after internal meeting with SL saying that haven't hit time norm. totally not convinced.
the revision raised my capped geo3 salary from old ceiling to new ceiling. lol
