truth is moe knows the truth , which is limited career prospects for teachers unles la u quit as soon as bond is over. employers including govt agencies look for relevant experience
worse is non KPs esp geo5 at 40. no managerial experience to justify hiring you.
if teachers quit what will happen to the tuition industry will be what will happen fo PHV/ delivery industry - competition will drive wages down

it’s bleak.

Not a scholar, but consistently A/B grade. Appointed SH and subsequently HOD.
I would think that good perf plus faster promotion then played a part in that.
Are you a male or female officer?

so it all depends on P and whether supt wants to question P. but there are some Ps who are forner supts/ directors at HQ and even more powerful n senior than newly appt supts

Would you mind sharing your year of promotion and grading for each year?

I've a colleague whose promotion is very fast. GEO4 in 3rd year and GEO5 in 6th year. Not a KP, Unisim grad with masters (also Unisim). Everyone was surprised with his promotion to GEO5 this year. Not particularly outstanding, no big project. But a socialiser and knows who to rub shoulders with, and would complain to the 'powerful' KP when another KP complained about his inefficiency. One thing he's known for - power hungry while not exactly capable as compared to other GEO4s.

The point here is that before submitting the ranking, the panel has all the power and authority to change their recommendations for performance grades, and hence, potential promotions.

I would say that both the panels recommendations, and HR's mysterious decisions contribute equally to promotions.

Want to promote? Both of these parties have to support you.

So actually, its quite true that you need quite a lot of luck - the superiors you have, the environment (profile of colleagues and students) all impact your performance due to the bell curve phenomenon within your workplace.

Percentage of GEOs in my school:

GEO3 - 27% (reasonable to low work-life balance)
GEO4 - 10% (no work-life balance)
GEO5 - 35% (reasonable work-life balance, good for some)
SEOs - 28% (no comment, one-third classroom teaching load of GEOs above)

And if you don't, getting that promotion within three years is also awesomely fast! Don't get fixated on promotion as it isn't a reward. As some have mentioned, it means having to meet high KRAs which you may not be ready to take on too. Find fulfillment in other areas too besides promotion and monetary increment.
Hihi! OP here, we are exactly similar except for YIS! I was informed of my promotion to GEO4 Were you invited for FLP or FHQ, or did sch offer you an internal kp position?
