I’ve heard friends say uniformed personnels have better benefits and salary than DXOs on the same job. Can anyone give an example of how exactly are the benefits and salary different? Like how many % more? Thanks

If I am not called back after the Mindef P test, what does it mean? I am not smart enough by Mindef standard? Would really hope to have some feedback actually on where I failed in the P test.

to share my observations when I took the P test some years ago when all the candidates took the test together in a room. not many completed the test before the time limit and many I observed was struggling.

not to brag or anything, I completed the test quite easily, especially on the 'pattern' test and observed many to struggle. I'm just a local pass degree holder so I'm sure I'm probably one of the worst 'academically' inclined there. so what i infer is that mindef standards are different. which makes sense cause a pass degree in engineering might not be worst off than a humanities graduate who has FCH due to the nature of the degree. hence the P test.

i got into mindef in the end. but i didnt get to see my results also. But what i heard is that its graded on a curve, meaning your percentile rank amongst all takers. not an absolute score. From what i know, if you met their P standard, they will inform you and tell you that your results is favorable, just that the position if filled up and you can apply other posts. for me, i went for the 1st interview for one post and was not selected, but using my same P results, i was able to apply to another post months later without retaking the P test again.

Tks for this useful insight. I guess there is no end to competition-from competing to be at the top primary school to uni, then competing for jobs too and for promotion. In future, we compete again for our children.

I took the test in March, and got my first interview in May, even though I applied for the position in Jan. I think it depends on how urgent the hiring division is.

I received a verbal offer, but is subjected to management approval and other clearance/approvals. What does this mean?

verbal offer means your immediate superior wants you. However, he/she also have a boss which he/she needs to give the final approval. Usually just a formality since you are already chosen.

clearance refers to your medical checks and security checks. this may take around 1-2 months.

Hi all, the manager position which I am interested in applying for states that candidates with no experience may apply. It also states that appointment will be commensurate with your experience. Does this mean that if I have, say 8 years of experience, I may be offered a higher position instead of manager?

Uniform pals signed on. Their pay is around 20-25% higher than other public servant.

Comparing only those officer CPT vs DX9 after graduating from uni.

Benefit - they hv this investment funds. Sign on bonus, better retention bonus. They get more emart credits. They got temasek club membership at small fee.

Salary - 25% thereabouts
