Chances ae you can only get jump + promotion not more than 5 times in your lifetime. Non-scholars in government promote on average 3 times in their lives.

How much you ask for is dependent on how much value you believe you can contribute to the job role.

My personal take is if you are a good candidate, as long as what you ask for falls within the HRs salary band, the hiring manager will do what is necessary to get you in.

As to the amount of time non-scholars get to promote in the government sector, I believe that average is grossly out of mark.

If you talking about title promotion, 1) Executive 2) Senior Executive 3) Manager, makes more sense.

But if its salary grade promotion, definitely more than 3.

Just need to put a few facts together to know you are wrong. It was announced recently that on average, 1-2% of MXes are superscalers. i.e. 98% max out at MX10 at most. From mx13-10 is 3 promotions. QED.

It is a half-truth as within each grade, there are sub-grade for promotion.

No, from the Civil Service point of view, only a change in grade is promotion. What sometimes the HR and boss try to do is to create "fake" promotions to try and retain long serving staff who have maxed out on their grade and try to motivate the youngsters by giving them impression of rapid career progression. That's why have all these sub-grade nonsense.

Sub-grades are fake and not recognized outside of a specific ministry, i.e. you can't claim that you are now a high MX11 from MTI and want to transfer to a low MX10 in MFA. They will tell you to fly kite and say MX11 is MX11, MX10 is MX10. You either qualify to move to MX10 or you don't.

Sub-grades are also not practiced consistently and some ministries have more while others don't have at all.

I have 4 such jumps in my salary:

1. change job - 39% (age 30)
2. change job - 35% (age 34)
3. promotion - 26% (age 37)
4. promotion - 25% (age 40)

Does it mean I have only one more time for such jump/promotion?
