Have an interview interview for this position next week.

Can anyone tell me whats it like working as a Credit Control Officer?

What is the starting pay?

Is it target-based? Very hard to hit?

Any office politics?

Please share, thanks!

Hi,

Went there for an interview last week and am not really interested in the role even though they promised much progression and learning. Its really to chase after the bad debt and try to recover as much $ as you can and that will be your individual and group KPI.

Declined them as I dont see myself in the role which is something that they will constantly ask during interview. Can tell they are really in need of manpower and willing to train you up if you join though. All the best!

if thats the case, instead of recovering debts, might as well join as sales and create revenue for the bank! seriously, sales is not that bad, you are 'forced' to work with many depts sometimes and that gives you a glimpse of what they do.

Was there this week and was immediately put to sleep when the person said it was actually chasing bad debts with a quota to hit. Feel their job description online is very misleading as if it were a bank operations day job but in fact is a telephone sales job with not much career progression. Don't understand why they require min education to be degree holders cuz no degree holders would want this kind of poly-holiday job.

The reality is, everyone on te streets of an developed country r most likely a deg holder.
Two, banking is a field everyone is seeking after. though this industry is definitely a sunset industry.
It boomed in the early 90s cause of gramm leach bliley act and the is turning around with the intro of volcker rule n more regulations

I heard the pay is not too bad but u have extremely high targets to hit in order to claim that "commission".

Definitely harder to do than sales cuz u are asking people to pay money when they chose not to do so in first place.

prob need to be more educated cos you need to crack ur brains to think of ways to talk to the customers to persuade them to pay up. and need soft skills cos you need to keep ur cool when customer scold you. haha.

seriously, like someone above has stated, might as well do front office sales if you have a target to hit. you definitely learn more doing sales rather than just asking customers to pay up!
