Your manager sounds very toxic.

Ppl with right thought process will be able to understand. U are stating the obvious. Ppl will or advise to (ie. In a nice way) clock 8hrs for various reasons, including overwork issues that can have negative impact in the firm or for ur manager kpi to take up more amazing job for ur learning opportunity (ie. Again in a nice way). Director, actors and viewers can refer to multiple parties, in different context..yes ppl knows it. Thats why this FACT has been there for decades. If you still dunno ur game well. I wish u good luck.

Had your exit chit chat? You seem easily convinced by your SM.

You went for interviews for a reason. Weigh the pros and cons of your potential job vs current job, and try to get a good sense of your own inclination. Don't lament too much regardless of you staying or leaving

"Partner potential" in first three years mean nothing. There are people who are assessed for promotion at the SM-to-partner stage and still failed to cross.

You like to do you do , you don't like the job then quit. What is so difficult?

I am EY manager and I enjoy every minute of my work. I have never ever forced my staff to OT. I understand that everyone is already trying their best.

You should be grateful that you have a job during this pandemic. Don't always think about money. Please adopt a positive mindset and think about the learning opportunities.
