Strawberry is my time, 1980s to early 1990s. This batch, still sort of ok with B4 culture.

Now is about the 零零后 already. What they want in life is very different from what we 30s and 40s think about, and even further from the boomers.
I don’t understand why millennials love to be exploited by boomers. Nobody will help you if you do not know how to set boundaries, say no and stand up for yourself. My former manager used to tell me that she doesn’t leave office before manager and senior when she was associate. What an idiot. Oh and nobody ever regrets not doing more OT when they are dying so what is the pride of working like a dog when boomer partners purposely understaff the engagement to extract more profits

Different culture and thinking. We also cannot understand why you kids think so differently.

But it’s ok. You kids are the future. In 30 years time the Gen Z will start to take over politicians roles, become senior management and C-suite level.

Let’s see how the world turns out by then. I won’t be alive already.

One cannot use the earlier generations' work culture to coerce the new employees to follow. The cost of living. the opportunities and challenges facing each generation are totally different. The genZ is looking forward to higher income to offset the living cost otherwise they cannot afford to retire unlike the middle income boomers.

I’ve been lurking here for a while and just want to chip in that’s it’s pretty insightful reading the different thoughts between boomers, millenniums and Gen Z.

It’s pretty normal though? That every generation doesn’t think highly of the next one because they went through tougher times which the next gen cannot accept.

But it’s also a good sign that we are progressing. Really no point telling me how your grandpa had to cross a river in a styrofoam box to go to school.

No one is pointing a gun to your head to join. It is what it is.

If you don’t like the culture and the deal then don’t join lo. If you want to join then either accept it for what it is, or see if you have any luck changing the culture from within.

But if the only people who joins are the ones who deal with the culture then I feel like it’s never going to change.

But the boomers are still in power. So what to do?

The deteriorating cut of point of accountancy courses in local unis is self explanatory of what are the expectations of genZ. Period,

The better grads have the ability to choose their starting career, For the others no choice but to stay there . preserve and get their CA certification in within a 3-year period to facilitate moving to commercial.

In the first place, as the above poster was saying, you don’t have to choose accountancy to begin with. Then this entire conversation can be avoided.
