Same building but still turd pay.
No point for Big4 to pretend to be bankers la.
Spend so much money to rent atas grade AAA office space but payscale is still grade CCC compared to the rest of the finance sector.
Might as well use the money to make the pay less of a joke.

New office is needed for partners to make themselves more presentable. With high salary comes high aesthetic. They wont feel embarrassed infront of big clients mah

Auditor pay scale
A2: 3500
S1: 4200
S2: 4800
S3: 5400
M: 6200
Auditor Who left as S1 and get 20% increment, and 3% increment thereafter (adjusted for inflation)
S1: 5100
S2: 5253
S3: 5410
M: 5572
In terms of salary, Short term, commercial win. Long term, auditor win. This is something that most average joes fail to realize. Audit is like an ugly duckling that will eventually turn into a beautiful swan. Not even mentioning that auditor has a chance to become a partner, where sky is the limit

Ignoring the accuracy of the above comparison, I wouldn’t put much weight on thinking about “long-term”.
It’s just not relevant to the discussion when only a fraction of every fresh A1 cohort stays beyond 5 years. Your expected duration, for the average person, isn’t even going to reach Manager.

Congrats on justifying your stay in big4, while complaining about your OT hours and questioning the purpose of the job. Or feeling bitter when another batchmate left and seeing them being perfectly happy about it.

For the average Joe. audit is still the way to go. Imagine drawing a monthly basic salary of $6300 at 30, thereafter $10,000 at 35 follow by $15,000 at 40 and having a shot to be at least a director or even partner with basic of above $20,000. When internal competition fades away cause of natural attrition, you become a vintage wine. Strong and steady progression without fear of replacement.
