Childish and ungrateful. That's how I would describe your attitude.
Why dont you try covering the household expenses for a change and give your parents a break. If you think that's too much, then you will definitely not able to start your own family and live in your own home.
Only when you take over the running the household expenses, give your parents allowances, then you will realise how much your parents have been shouldering all this while.
YOU whining BRAT!

I agree this is a lot. I earn double but give $500. I have my own family, hse and 2 kids n maid.
Though my mum say not enough, she goes on holidays every mth. She and father works part time, though blue collar jobs. In sales. I assume my sibling (1) gives the lesser maybe 400. I can afford to give more but did not as my mother spends all her money on travelling and I can see they are not saving for retirement. Very sad and every reminder to them goes unheeded, worst I get suan for not paying for their holidays.

I am in a somewhat similar situation. Bought one parent precious metals but not the other. Because one would keep it while the other would probably pawn it and there it goes to karaoke, drinking, betting.... Wisdom does not always come with age. Some persons will never be able to hold and grow money. Too bad that I have one parent just like this. Then I have to adjust and give the money bit by bit so that the money will sustain my parent, but the parent will not be able to 'blow' away a big sum of money. Also considered giving the said parent NTUC vouchers instead of cash, but perhaps that is a bit mean.
Another way of thinking is that once the money is given, ignore what that parent does with the money. But I can't tolerate my money being used for frivolous things. My money should be used for the parents' day to day expenses and nice food, not betting.

Not easy to live on 2.4K a month in SG. You are filial to give 20% of your salary to your parents.
Many years ago I started at 2.5K. CPF takes some and I gave 500 to my parents, but it was not comfortable for me. Now I earn much more and I give more but it feels alright these days.

Yep, know exactly what u mean. I hate it when they use their wealth to threaten. They can take their $ and stuff it up their a$$. When they use this $hit logic I get really annoyed, do they think I go back because of their $. Looking down on me. What the hell.

Don't call people brat when you are none the wiser.
I also give my parents $800 per month, despite having take-home pay of $5k. That guy who sustain on $2.4k per month, must have been very filial, and not someone you can call a brat.

I earn about 6k before CPF. Give my mum $750 and my dad $250 every month. I also pay for their hp and starhub cable/internet bills, can come up to about $180 total. During bonus months, i will give extra and may buy big ticket items, just bought them a fridge recently. Brought my mum along to paris end last year with my family. I have my own family with a 3rd child coming along next year. I don't have a car so perhaps that helps me in giving the allowance to my parents

Mthly wage (incl. bonuses) avg $12000
Mthly dividends avg $1300
Give mum $400
Give dad $0 (cuz he refused)
Live with parents, and pay for absolutely nothing (no rent, no bills, no insurance, etc - all paid by parents)
I LOVE my mummy and daddy!!!!!
