Truth is the local unis are more rigorous. Both in application process and more importantly the curriculum. So I can see why some companies prefer the locals. But really in tech it is more of what you can bring to the table.
So yes the truth is non-local unis will always be less preferred by employers but not a deal breaker. It is how you market yourself.

I posted here 2 years back after my pay adjustment. I was doing product support in one of the local bank taking about 7k. After that I got a promotion, hop to another team and 2yrs on I’m drawing 11k now.
Real story, I think I was lucky that nobody look at my education background after a few years in the industry, this is my 10th yr. And to be honest, even now I still feel inferior when surrounded by local grads or interns.

Because there are people like you so zek ark, full of negativity. So I thought I should share mine story. Mine may be another outlier story, but I feel that everybody is armed with a degree, how much you can earn depends a lot on your character, attitude, sadly yes luck too.
Build some good karma and don’t throw shade at others
