The pay cut is going to be huge.
I don't think your monthly will even hit 8k. Assume a generous 4 months bonus per year, this is only $128k.

Why don't you consider being an adjunct professor with a local university? At least it's more prestigious and you may get to work on interesting consulting projects.

Lampa la..if you and wife both make 5k, thats 10k. take home 8k. if you have been saving (and not spend away your money clubbing, gambling, shopping), at age of 30, you would have a hdb from bto, at 35, sell that, cash out and buy a 1 mil condo. i agree car is ex..go buy a 2nd hand la..or wait, COE sure drop next year.

Lastly, holiday, lampa again la...how ex to go on regional hols? budget airline fly even to japan at $500 both way..unless u want to go europe every turn la..

Actually not really a big surprise as my close friend who is a manager in a poly said that manager in poly manages a department of professionals (not just clerks or diploma level admin staff, also degree and master holders). If at a typical statutory board outside, it is equivalent to a Deputy Director in terms of payscale and job responsibilities.

Nope, a DD makes much more than that. Minimally >10k and the responsibility is way higher than a poly manager. Good luck if u think a poly manager can apply for an equivalent DD position in civil service or SB.

Looks like you are very out of touch. A DD in civil service starts at MX10 upper scale. Their ceiling matches that of polytechnic managers on PAX 3 scheme.
