yah the triple power election + A grade + high MX = 6+ mnth bonus.
BUT still less than private sector, which will pay higher and give more bonus for the work that A grader pdce.

Hi
I know of someone who earned over S$12K monthly prior to joining the Poly.
Poly offered 1/2 the past drawn. But when factor in the 'typical' bonus and work-life balance, was told it sort of even things out.

It depends on how he values "work life balance". It's very subjective.

agree, poly bonus is quite good, similar to teaching in MOE i believe.
lower salary but better work life balance and stable bonus...
for working parents, it is a good choice. not everyone is 25 anymore.

true, the salary is decent (not high) but the bonus is competitive.
however, this is only if you perform. if you are an average performer, you get a very average bonus, if you get A, B, you will get marked more. If you get D or E, you can expect little.
the Polys are the most unique of all stat board because the have competition from each other just like the 3 local unis (which are private). they compete for students, compete for talent and compete for funding. If you are in a poly (i was in a two polys before i left for a uni) you will realise that they are run like the elite secondary schools that compete, just on a larger scale with more budgets.
so do not have the misconception that it will be very easy in poly. it is actually very fast paced. there are only 3 local unis, but there are 5 polytechnic. it is competitive and yes, people do get 'advised' to leave if they do not work hard. it is not an iron rice bowl.

Different polys may have different requirements. The poly which I interviewed with said that if hired, I would be given 1 year to complete their in-house teaching course.
Can't provide much info because I was not selected in the end.

I joined the poly with a doctorate as a lecturer last Apr at PAX4A with 6+K/mth, which was about 25% more than my last drawn pay. I felt it was still inadequate then. After reading this discussion thread, I think I should just be contented with what I'm getting.

$6+k for a doctorate isn't very good, is it?
