You will never be happy if all you do is hoard cash without moving on to the next step in life

Default Working

I am currently 28 and have been working full time for 8 years. I have been starting to hate going to work so much that I think of having to go back to work, right when the holiday/weekend starts. I can’t really pinpoint a reason to why I hate my work or working in general.

It’s been affecting me mentally so much that I break down and cry every other week or so. Not sure if anyone else feels this way, or is there something wrong with me?

I don’t know if i hate the job that i’m in, or just the fact that I have to go to work. I can’t afford to quit as I have a wedding and a house coming next year.

It's quite possible the job itself or aspects of the job (like the boss, colleagues, environment etc.) doesn't suit you. All this may be taking a toll on you to the extent that it's causing you some psychological problems, like depression of some sorts.

That said, if it arises just because of the fact you have to be at work to make a living, then sori, I'm afraid the problem is terminal. The only way out of that is to dramatically re-scope your life to abandon your obligations so that you won't have to work to fulfill them. Even then, you still have to feed yourself so I dunno how you gonna square the circle with no income.

Dam everyone here earning so much. Graduating this coming May with 3.5k basic salary (Take home 2.8k). Will give parents 400 and spend ~400. Aim to invest 2k every month.

I might be underpaid working in the AI sector. Gotta grind for a couple years before I can see 4k pay I guess.

Siao ah invest so much. Young should enjoy life and chiong massage, old already hard. Also no way you can spend just 400 a month unless you eat cai png every day, don't buy kopi/tea and don't go out on weekends.

33 male doctor

$125-130k per annum for now
$700 per month to parents
$300 +/- per month on various expenses (food, transport)
Just bought a condo in Orchard for $3 mil last year - through own savings, some help from parents, and obviously took a small bank loan
Got some insurance - not sure what; parents bought for me
No car; I take public transport everywhere, even to work
No gf, still single and happy the way it is

Will soon be promoted, hence big pay jump to about 18k/month

Hello, can I have an honest opinion, preferably from HR who would have insight on this, but I've just reached 31 years old, and am currently drawing a pay of about 6000, excluding overtime (average maybe 600 per month, up to maybe 2K), 13th month given separately at the end of the year, and an annual bonus of approximately 1.2K (about 2.5 months). All before CPF deduction. I have a degree as well.

Am I considered average, under, or overpaid, as a normal farming singaporean citizen in my current situation(taking into account I probably wouldn't be able to earn salaries like those in investments)? Trying to find out so I can determine my next career move, or if I should stay at my current position until the economy recovers.

Looking forward to your replies, thank you.
