Also reported on multiple news sites that Microsoft is slowing hiring in its Windows, Office, and Teams divisions

Useless garbage forum full of jobless retards spreading lies.
It's worth acknowledging that there's a general slow down in hiring in the technology sector, especially in high growth companies.

As interest rates go up and every dollar becomes more painful to spend, there's a general shift in mindset from growth to profitability.

Sequoia’s recent 52-page presentation is a helpful summary of what is happening now and the medium-term

but you'll be under contract, renewable annually/biannually. not on the perm establishment which you have to fight for during performance evaluation. only tappers emplaced on perm estab

tappers also start on a higher pay grade (and on the higher end of that pay grade)

i heard from my junior that last year (2021) only 18 got into tap and it's getting more competitive compared to 2018 days, when i got in. almost everyone is a first class if not valedictorian. for the rarer second uppers, they have a portfolio that stands them out of the crowd.

tap is a exclusive leadership trainee program. its a way for govtech to select potential future tech leaders, not a way for govtech to "mass hire"
So does this mean that if you're not valedictorian/first class honours/second upper with "portfolio that stands...out of the crowd", don't bother to apply?

ya sia

no idea where they get their info from. they just read some online news for the US side of things then immediately assume

"oh sg also hiring freeze"

so fking stupid. another one more dumb is "oh inflation so hiring slow down"

simi lj? same logic as

"oh people bring umbrella today so means today will rain"

no wonder people make fun of this forum on edmw, r/sg and NTUwhispers.

agreed

take this trash forum with a pinch of salt, go look at ntuwhispers, discord channels and many more places. lots of people in tap lol a lot of the tech places in SG are mass hiring and the salary average is now 5-6k for mediocre devs

stop wasting ur time in this cesspool of false info, go find actual people in uni discords or linkedin.

Lots of people in contract hires, not TAP. As noted by a number of others, TAP pays higher than contract hires and higher than 5-6k. If you are a NUS/NTU CS graduate you are paid better than 80-90% of your cohort

So TAP will be selective, but just apply!
