My take is it s mostly the same for same industry, the difference is not much once you consider bonuses, benefits.

Are these all in or exclude allowances? I think the chemical industry usually has allowance built in to monthly gross.

Same here. Second year working in the civil engineering sector. Worked my socks off for my first class but still earning less than 4K.
My other peers are either sweating under the sun with no risk pay or working investment banking hours to earn low pay.
