Im currently in Year 2 - 3125 + OT (5500)
My seniors who are working for 10years plus are earning 7k+ +OT (12k+++). We are in the aerospace industry where we are given lots of overtime and allowances to get the job done. Bonus per year min is 4mth.

This is why Aerospace Poly course are difficult to get in. The cutoff points for poly is 9 points.

It's the same for aerospace approval or licensed engineers. We technically earn more than our managers. 🤣

I'm not an engineer. But from all the posts in this thread, it seems like I can deduce these things:
- Engineering seems to be slightly more recession-proof compared to other industries e.g. banking and finance? Hardly any retrenchment?
- Starting pay not exactly high, but promotions/progression/company change (while remaining an engineer) pushes the average monthly salary up a lot every single year?
- Not exactly easy to be employed by a major O&G/Aviation organisation, but if you are, the annual package seems a lot better than the median pay of an average Singaporean?
Again, I'm not an engineer, so not sure if these trends are true. Seeking advice on behalf of my juniors.
Besides salary, please also enlighten us on your working hours/work-life balance Thanks
