As technician? Just apply with your diploma cert after your NS. But u took the SAR-66 Cat A or B1.1 or B2 papers?

Do u mind sharing wad course u signed up for at wad uni??

From wad many have shared here - Being an LAE after u grad from uni means u will be grossly underpaid for at least 4 yrs. It is only after u had gotten ur LAE license that ur salary hits a basic of $3k-$4k+

Contrast this with ur peers who joined other companies, govt ministries, stat boards after grad, in their 4th to 5th year they would b hitting at least 5k-6k/mth salary. This is in addition to losing out to those 4yrs+ of additional salary +bonus.... Ur annual salary will only catch up at the end of ur LAE, maybe 8th yr or so??

If u r young n single, passionate abt aviation it is ok la... But if u r attached, looking to settle down soon I suggest not going into this.... Sometimes, passion dun pay u much in sg...

If u can, consider switching to another course that u r interested in....

If not, after grad u can consider signing on uniformed services like airforce, navy, scdf, cnb, ica, customs... Those roles starting salary already high $3k+..... Make sure u think of other alternative career paths before u grad.... If u r interested I can share u with more on telegram @jeffrey745....

If im not mistaken, being a general technician dont even need these papers, if you wanna be a certifying technician or lead man then probably you need those CAT A papers.

During the interview if they see that you have Cat B1.1 papers they will tell you that these papers are for LAE not technician (technician need Cat A papers). But I think you will stand a higher chance to pass the interview as they can see that you have the passion for the job as you have spent $80 per papers towards your goal.

Those B1.1 papers have a 5 to 10 years validity, so if you think of being a technician first and keep these papers for later do take note. Jump from technician to engineer is possible, but most ppl will need to retake those papers that have expired (more $$$).

How does one jump from technician to engineer?

Do you know that the SAR 66 papers have a validity of 5 and 10 years?

So you need to get your license before all your papers expired. If not have to retake those that expired. Especially M50 (Essay Paper) only valid for 5 years.

Pass the necessary exams and also have the relevant maintenance experience required.

I think what's more important is whether you have the passion for it.

Becoming a LAE actually can open up more career opportunities for you. Cause some position if you have experience as an LAE is more preferable.

Take it easy brah.

1. You don't need any papers to be a Leadman. (But of course lar your performance must be good)

2. Certifying tech is more for line maintenance. Base maint tech don't need any papers.

Morale of the story, do not take Cat A papers, waste of time imo. Go for Cat B papers.
