i just watched the recordings, i think its quite fair in my 2cts

The mgmt and HR reviewed with real market data but I thought they should be more upfront and call out that lower grades got increased already...

i think they didn't as they are more mindful of the majority of Mid and seniors' negative remarks... I think if they can have a little adjustment like the 1-2% might make more happy a little.

Also, let us be factual, Govtech has a majority of mid seniors in the bulk.. those cap centres combined only account for a max 500-700 out of the 3K+ strong.

There's a saying:
You're never going to please everyone, and if you do, there's something wrong.

Frens I'm pretty sure AWS should be taken into account when comparing monthly. Some companies spread their AWS across 12 months alrdy, some (like govtech currently) don't. So 5.5k is actually around 6k.

Yeah, fresh grad should have no bargain power at all, zero working experience, only paper qualifications, be grateful you got 6k for your first job, some more got bonus. Some mid seniors with fews YOE also landed with below 6k only.

No wonder others company rather hired foreigners fresh grad with just 3-4k, at least they won’t kpkp and might work harder.

If you so good, join FAANG lor, provided you able to go in, haha

Not promoted this yr, and can’t see anything in workday yet. AWS & MDR is on 30 May.
Those promoted can share what is the % of increments?

Not true. Internships can be considered experience and I’m not sure what it was like for you undergrads these days typically normally do on average around 2-4 internships before they grad. Fresh grads can also be more technically apt than people that lets say did a mid career switch to swe and only been doing it for a year or so. Are they considered higher grades than computing fresh grads? I don’t think so.

this is how out of touch comments like "Well, everybody has a car, we have two" come about. Being unable to see and feel from another perspective is not unique to politicians or the ultra-rich.

When the seniors complained about their salary, they believed that it was the company's fault or "wrong time in wrong market". After announcement ystd, when juniors do the same, their situation is attributed to themselves "being cmi" or "ungrateful" and just told to "accept it" coz they have no "bargaining power".

Know how ivory towers are built now?

well, theres a term for this - self-serving bias. "A self-serving bias refers to people's tendency to attribute their successes to internal factors but attribute their failures to external factors."

Seniors must feel really good about themselves for getting that promotion. *pat pat* good job!

Agreed. The messaging can be better. We kept talking about freshies and seniors during the Q and A but there is the sandwiched group of relatively experienced peeps that falls under this junior grade bracket that seems to be left out of this exercise at first glance. I would think that HR would already catered to this group (salary is reviewed to keep pace) but the messaging can be made clearer and stronger.
