Amongst government agencies, and ignoring specialist tracks (e.g. AGC, MTI ESS), the competitiveness in terms of hiring should be MAS > MFA > EDB

Temasek and GICs should be considered private sector entities.

MAS remuneration is not as attractive as rumoured.

1. No 13th month, no civil servant bonus/ Only PB.

2. PB is low. Average is 1.5 months, at best 2. For downturn years, there will also be reduction of PB.

3. As per all Gov job, there is no medical hospitalization benefit except for additional 1% to Medisave.

4. Increment is slow and low. Some poster had explained. AD is lvl 12 and 11. Assoc is lvl 13. Fresh Grad are given Trainee Officer grade for 1 year but title is also Assoc. Increment is 3 - 5% or so. Promotion on higher grade might get closer to 10%.

5. Turnover is relatively high. Most younger officers hang around for 2-3 years. Go figure.

why is turnover high?

politics? bad hours?
or are folks very employable so they jump to FIs for significantly higher pay?

1. No 13th month but you do know there is a group bonus of 2.25 months right? Would you prefer 13th month and 0.1 month civil service then?

2. Average performer 1.5 - 2 month bonus is already higher then banks for average performers.

3. I agree, hospital benefits not as comprehensive as private sector.

4. This is in line with every other government job. You don't get stability or an iron rice bowl for nothing.

5. The attrition after 3 years could be due to the promotion from Associate to Assistant Director and younger officers may want to seek better opportunities at that stage of their career.
