Mine was a mid career entry. Was quite surprised that they got back to me so quickly. Was glad and relieved at the same time because the interview was so grilling.

Don't believe glassdoor range, sometimes it could be not that accurate.

AD are someone whom have 2-3 years of experience and more, there are 2 levels of AD, fresh graduate started as Associate and typically they get promoted to AD after completing 2 years or nearly 2 years of service.

AD pay range scale 5k - 12k basic salary, bonus had been revised to just PB, ranging 1-3.5months on average depending on performance and department.

Just got an offer for a mid career switch from non-finance background and feel they probably tried to match your annual package with an estimated 14 months package.

Probably a good incentive to encourage mid career switch by minimising the expected pay loss.

Could I ask why did you choose to switch to MAS? Just wondering about the comparisons between MAS and banks say culture and pay wise. Wouldn’t banks have more progression?

Moving from a non-finance & trading role back to bank isn't easy especially in the current climate. Apart from the inclination to 'serve' my nation, I'm a decent paper pusher as well and my skill is valued in MAS. They are also very open to mid career switch, which is a good thing.

Intend to give it a try for a few good years before deciding whether it's a good place to stay. Not everything is about pay I feel. If it is about prospect, i would just stay in my current role. Besides, MAS does have competitive salary.

Culture in MAS is very much boss dependent I heard.

Is it difficult to get into MAS as a fresh grad? Must you have at least a second upper in university?

Also, what would be the most versatile area in MAS such that the skills are still valued if i intend to move out of MAS years later? I heard the regulation areas (capital markets, banking regulation) are good to move to compliance roles. Is this true, and what other departments?

Hi everyone, I currently have an offer from MAS as well as one of the larger international banks. As a fresh grad, would it be better to start from private sector or public sector? Also, will the training in MAS be useful for me to explore further opportunities later on in my career, given that it is the national regulator? Just hoping to get some perspective on the training and growth between public and private sector so I can weight against the pay difference, and hopefully make an informed decision. Thanks everyone!
