Well done bro/sis. Basic is decent but really good bonus to compensate the basic.

3 kids
1 beautiful wife
i do not own a condo. I own a few villas and an island in the Carribean.
i don't drive a 5 series. I drive Koenigsegg Agera S hypercar. I'm its second buyer in Singapore. My butler drives the BMW when he wants to purchase grocery.
i don't have a net worth of $1m. Roughly, I make a profit of around $1m every 4 hours.. Do the calculations yourself to gauge my net worth.

At your age, you should be earning $100k at least, have a family and own your home.

You have not met 1 of the criteria. How about the other 2? If you don't meet all 3, you are a failure.

I have a wife, earning $40k pa. My children are in primary school. We live in a 4 room BTO flat (2nd time) which we have paid up using the sale of our first BTO and savings. We don't have a car and we eat home cooked food most of the time. We only manage to save $40k pa. Are we doing ok? How can I earn more? Should I take up part time taxi driving, part time property agent or part time insurance agent? Appreciate advice from those who has made it big. How do you earn $200k pa? I want to buy a condo and enjoy swimming pool, gym, tennis court in a nice, peaceful environment. Can I ever afford to live in a condo? Please help. Thank you.

Your annual income of $55,000
is higher than 52.1% of all resident taxpayers.

Thus u are not a failure yet. there are 52.1% of singaporeans right behind you.

its not what u earn, its what net worth u have. there are many whom earns beyond 100K but after expenditures only left 20% savings and heavily on debts.

Salaried income & savings from it will never get anyone rich to millionaire. but your family annual saving of S$40k is decent for rainy days. (is this amount including your interest, passive income, etc )

its the investment that would make one rich or u strike out your own bbiz .

You should have used your savings & leverage on loan to but properties few years ago. that would have lifted your net worth. BUT, you may have missed the boat...... property cycle is coming to its peak and correction is imminent. buy now and you may need 7-10 years to get back to your buy-in value. but of course in long long run, property is going uptrend.

i have worked in IT all my life, starting at $2K+ as a programmer and now i make $200K per annum basic in software professional services, age 37. but the job comes with stress, long hours and demanding customers. my wife is a lawyer earning $100K per annum. we live in a terrace house (net asset value of $1.7M) and have about $750K in savings.
