I am in shipping broker company, however employer is paying me very little, less than 3k and little bonuses. I would like to join some companies which provides higher salary and will bring my all knowledge to assist the new employer. I had work in the current company for 1.5 years plus already still no increase pay.

Do sms me at 8six8zero2six77

Default Shipbroking

I know jack about shipbroking but I partnered with a ship broking friend and we started our own firm. Good luck to us.

Hi everyone, im currently in the singapore navy and am seriously considering studying in ICS and coming out to make it as a shipbroker. My father is a retired master mariner having been in the industry for over 30 years. Just like some have mentioned, he too said it is a sunset industry and advised me otherwise. But i'm just like many here, curious about how to go about even getting into the industry of ship brokering. wondering if passing the ICS PQE exams and getting the cert would eventually help during interviews? any advice would be greatly appriciated.

Default Just started

Tomorrow I start as a trainee
I have a mechanical engineer degree in A very high qualificated university here in Brazil.. But the market is not good at all. Looking for a position for 6 months.. So shipbroker it is.
For me it's about to turn useless all that Engineer knowledge or not.
As an engineer I know that I could get a really good salary with technical stuff in the future. And shipbroker does not give me experience for the future in engineer.

Life sometimes do that. Let's see what kind of surprise this type of job reserves..

The problem is all about a career in the future..

What would you do if you were in this position? Like.. Getting a job as engineer in a year or keep on shipbroker market?

Is it very difficult to enter the market as a ship broker?

everyone talks about the pros here.
so what are some of the cons?

Yes, especially since the market is down in the dumps now. Brokers won't be bringing in inexperienced people, and most of the big international brokerage firms are filled with FTs anyway.

that is more for the S&P market i guess. chartering market should still be quite alright now right?
