I will like to find out more about the prospects and benefits in firms that do shipbuilding, ship chartering kind of business.

Is there AWS and how's the variable bonus like?
I am applying for a marketing role in such company and was told my asking pay is too high.

I've been in a Ship Building, Ship Repair and Chartering company for a few years. I think salary depends on the experience, skills and network of people that you know. Esp for marketing role, where u need a lot of people skills, soft skills and networking skills.

I am in ship chartering.

Depends on what the role you are intending to do is. Some foreign companies' idea of "marketing" vs local companies' idea of "marketing" is fairly different.

Most importantly, what kind of starting salary did you ask for?

Can I ask what are the prospects of getting into the shipping industry without any experience. I have gotten a marketing degree from UniSIM recently and is interested in entering the shipping industry but I have no prior experience in shipping. My prior experience is of no relevance.

Saw ads for shipping coordinator, planner etc and applied but was not even called up for any interviews.
