Working in HR, I know the real 'young' high-flyers' (earners or the top 5%) (whom we are extremely jealous of) and most do not seem like anyone who will 'waste time' on forums to ask about 'how they are doing' (we literally tell them their progression because all of them are very aggressive in doing well and wanting to know their progress) or boast about their high-earning ability in such forums.
And since we gossip quite a lot as well, being in HR, we can roughly guess who are the ones boasting here (if their story were indeed true). So their identity is actually not a secret. lol.

Thanks for the sharing. Any chance of sharing the starting monthly pay of MX9? And the age at which a non-scholar high-flyer can reach this grade?

Low flyer much? 90k per annum = 7.5k/month with no bonus. Assuming 4 months total bonus, that's 5.6k/month. Many of my friends are already at 90k per annum and we are 30 years old.

non scholars are unlikely to reach this grade. if they do, they are around 45-50. scholars can reach this grade at around 40-45.
97% retire at MX10/MX11

is the pay really much better in civil service than stat board??

For civil service, mindef pays very highly compared to many other ministries. Workload lighter also compared to many ministries. Can really get work life balance and not hard to score good performance grade.

Not easy for private Uni grad to get into grad position in public service.
Your salary seems decent for someone with 5-6 years experience.
