Does it sound like your current situation?
While I am not networks and I do not travel often the rest are pretty much accurate. Yes I do have young children and strive to be a better family man which is one of my driver. The other is since I have acquired the experience and expert skill sets why not work for a SG organization and grow the local base instead of benefiting others ?

Not too sure if this is a right place for the question, but I have read through many pages of the thread without a concrete answer.

I am heading for a role in one of MOH's departments (should be obvious since its neither ministry or SB). Am on scholarship but I am not sure if really is considered one in the traditional meaning of the term since our bond is to MOHH. Is it really just a sponsorship? Which pay scale should I really be taking my benchmark from? NS/Local U/2nd upp

Default Take up stat board offer?

Hi, I have just been offered a position by a stat board with a salary of 4030.
But currently am working in the pte sector earning around 3700 but am not too sure when I will be able to hit even 4k (maybe in 2yrs time?)...

Exposure wise, I would think that my pte sector job offers more exposure than the stat board, but the exposure in my current company is lesser than other similar positions in the same industry.. So am in a dilemma..

I am going 30 this year and grad from NTU with a 2nd lower, male with NS...
And I am currently in my 6th job.. N yes... Am a job hopper.. Have been staying in my current job for around 1yr odd.

Is the salary provided by the stat board a reasonable amount? Is it advisable for me to go to the stat board based on my profile? Hope some wise person could advise me.. Thanks!

Join the stat board, try to get promoted within and then hop back out after 1-2 years. Remember you can only keep hopping while you are young, ie < 35.

He would have gotten $5000 after 5 years if he joined the statboard from the start.
HR probably docked his pay down a few notches because of the sketchy, job hopping past.

Anw whats done is done. Consider it a blessing that an iron rice bowl statboard employer is willing to offer you a stable job with a respectable/decent pay. Besides civil service yearly packages are quite attractive. The news report that civil servants got a 2.1 month bonus last year but if you add in further PB and generous yearly increments the full year package becomes quite substantial.

Scholarship in biostats? You won't have many outside options with that after serving your bond. Think twice

from what i gathered, ppl under the graduate award (which i assume you're under), may not necessarily be posted only to mohh. there are ppl already serving their bond in moh hq.

how different do you expect things to to be, knowing if it's a scholarship or a sponsorship?

i would expect you to be put in a pay scale similar to a degree fresh grad, except a little more since you have a masters.

Default Moving to civil services

I am 40 working in private sectors all along. Because private sectors are mostly foreign owned and our manpower policy is very much welcoming especially the past 5 years. Most of the VP and Director level are taken by talents.

Looking at most of the 40s being retrench and out of work even though they are well qualified because of office politic struggle. I am looking into civil service. What are the chances for a 14k role?
