You are not informed at what HR has been doing these days. I’m not the only one. Most lf the people in my batch were offered MX12 as well.
I think people are just interested as it seems to be an anomaly, but if this is what some ministries are offering, it signals a change from the status quo. I'm in the Ministry of Communications and Information and to my knowledge, fresh grads all come in at MX13, with the title of Assistant Manager (years ago, it was Executive).

After their first year, there is a 'default' (if nothing goes terribly wrong) promotion to MX12, with the title of Manager.

If there are indeed ministries offering fresh grads to MX12, it would be good to know if this is happening across the board to all fresh grads in a certain batch, whether it's going to be case from hereon, or whether there were certain criteria you or other fresh grads being offered MX12 right off the bat (as you mentioned most, not all) had to fulfil.

Pardon the typos in my post above. Just to add that if this practice of hiring fresh grads directly at MX12 is widespread, then it is effectively a pay raise from MX13 salaries, and points to the Public Service Division seeing a need to do more to attract fresh grads.

Not everything that is not aligned with what you got is ********. You likely got offered MX12 due to your job function which command a higher starting salary than those generalist. Also, it is not that i am not informed, instead, you are too new to know what's going on in general.

I agree. My previous agency also promoted all fresh grads after 1 year. Yes, it might also be the case that at times when they need more hires, they will offer MX12 or that you are in the field that is in demand and they want you to agree so they offer you a grade higher to attract you. but if you take a look at the salary range of MX13 and MX12, there is quite an overlap so those offered MX12 don't need to be too happy because you might just be getting the same pay as an MX13 and this may have some disadvantages further down the road.

actually the more important thing for the last few posts is...were the mx12 offers on contract? or immediately offered perm?

a bit risky if only contract offered, even for mx12.

I think about 7 years ago, most of the ministries and agencies already didn't offer perm during hire..all on contract and queue for perm offer, at least this was what happened to me and my ex-colleagues back then. Back then those on perm for my side were all on scholarship

From your experience, what is the average annual increment for non-promotion years for MX12?

I think maybe ultimately still depends on which ministry/stat board one is applying to. Mine is ministry… recently applied + fresh grad. Hiring manager say the role itself is a perm post leh (tho subjected to 1 year confirmation in service- should be like a 1 year probation bah).

May I check if I joined a ministry as MX12 with 10 yrs experience (for example) with a diploma versus degree, is there any difference in starting salary, yearly increment, promotion time line.

Thanks
