not very good. colleague worked for 3.5 years in total and gets paid $8.5k

Can get this within 5 to 7 years in private sector with proper progression.

civil servants salaries are meant to be sufficient for survival, with no luxuries. Cannot compare with pte sector.

Does moving from MX13 to MX12 after one year in the civil service count as a 'promotion', i.e. increment will be higher than an average year?
