How is the mobility between private and public?
Public go private easy? Private go public hard?

Easier for private to go public but pay is an issue if you wait too long. For public to private, some roles are valued, depending on agency and if its an area of specialisation where private needs that regulatory knowledge.
My personal advice looking back is to go private first then switch to public in late 20s or early 30s for the stability if you have started a family.

Nope. Not necessarily but ministries got more scholar for leadership position while stat board ceo or ce usually come in from parachute.
For farmer, no matter where you go also same.
I graduated first class from NTU but not on scholarship. Joined ministry at highest level entry salary in 2017 (4100 sgd) work 3 years, my last drawn with ministry was around 5,100.
Pb for 2017 - C
Pb for 2018 - B
Pb for 2019 - B
Pb for 2020 - N/A cause resign in Nov 2020.
Compared to my peers from NTU, they are nowhere near 5k salary (we science degree)
Now I in private, no transferable skill, paycut to 4 K but i am happier

This means promoted to deputy director? I had always thought it's reserved for scholars if it's in mid 30s!

I was supposed to be promoted but i left.
I dare to make the switch because i saved up quite a lot due to my pb. Then in 2020, the v shape recovery in stock market allow me to just yolo.
A good thing about gov job is that you will dare to invest during market crash cause you know next month your pay check will still come

Anyone can advise on hpb pay range for sm and ad? What is the typical bonus for average performer? Thinking of applying for a job there.
