Disagree. How hard it is to attain FCH is based on your particular major/specialisation, not your school.

A meritocratic institution like the public service strives to choose the best candidates based on his/her abilities. These pool of candidates tend to come from the 'best' universities -- largely meaning NUS/NTU/SMU. (After all, education continues to be the best way of showcasing one's abilities, especially for those w/o prior experience.) Of course, there can be exceptions and hence admission into service is not based solely on academic results or one's university. Otherwise, no need for interviews and entrant tests.

There is nothing to be sad about. There are FCH earning 2K for their first job, but FCH earning 6K for their first job. It all depends on the industry, the organisation, the job itself, the responsibility, the role, etc.

101 factors come into play to determine the pay package for a fresh grad at entry level besides the University and grades. Your previous internship may affect the compensation outcome too. Even in the same organisation, the same role, the same university, the same degree, the pay could be different too.
What's important is if the job is a good fit, if it allows you to grow and develop your potential, so you can move up smoothly, and get the increment that your hard work deserves.
If this is your first job after graduation, look beyond just the pay. Gaining experience and building your portfolio is the most important thing for the first 3 years of your career. Focus on finding a job that suits you and your passion. *although yes money is important, but when comes to career, the money is like a long term investment. A high paying first job may not necessarily means a smooth sailing career that brings about even higher pay in the future. *

Principal Manager is like Section/Team Lead, the first real "manager" role where you are actually responsible for managing subordinates. Above that is Asst D, Deputy D, D, Group D.

I'm not from WSG but I work regularly/closely with folks over there.

Actually I think the SIM candidate ought to be grateful that he is even being considered. I understand in the past SIM graduate resumes were simply thrown away.

another cocky NUS student. i know of a few friends who have NUS 1st class grads reporting to him, a SIM third class honour graduate.

i know more than a hundred NUS HR grads who will simply throw away a resume if SIM is inside. anyone can claim anything on this forum without backing it up

SIM is good la if not why you think those that get more than 85 rank point compare between SIM and Imperial college? both got 'im' inside mah

This forumer, apparently from SIM (who keeps describing NUS students as cocky), is very 心里不平衡.

no point ranting here. Get on with life. You may be lagging behind the fresh grads from local unis now. But if u work hard and smart enough, u still can make a good living for yourself.

dude, what u say is true. but if we are just talking about fresh grad. honestly, how SIM student be on par with loca grad. Not saying SIM is no gd but its a fact that local U is better.

like what the other guy mentioned, as you move into mid career, your education becomes less important because HR have your previous job experience and performance to benchmark on.

btw, i am not from SIM or local U.. currently in a SB leading a team of 2.. 1 from NUS w masters, 1 from and 1 from SIM UOL.. both of them are older than me.. also currently offering another one from NUS
