Do enlighten me. Which part of my post says I do not anticipate a job in back office because of its long hours? If you have a problem interpreting posts, refrain from responding because i certainly do not need trolls.

There are also operations positions opened, offering 2.8K-3K, requiring frequent OTs and working 3 saturdays per month. I'm gonna skip the talk on MA programmes and ****, because honestly, they might burn my resume when they see UOL. Nevertheless, does banking provide a better future ? if i take on operations in a bank, and jump every 2-3 years? how does it compare to the option below?
Civil sector, i'm thinking of joining singapore prison service. i go to the gym 3 times a week and fitness is part of my life. I served national service with detention barracks as an MP, not to mention prison service held talks in my camp to poach some of us too. considering i have relevant experience in incarceration, and my ippt after NS has been a consistent silver (yes free $200/year), would it be possible for me to get the position as a Senior Prison Officer? Would it be better than getting a career in the banking world ?
Many people have told me to go into banking, because it has better prospects. how true is this ?
thanks in advance.

Hi,
I am a first class honors in econs from a local uni. I'd like to join MAS as an entry level economist. Can someone familiar with the industry give me a rough idea how much can I expect as a starting salary and also my chance of getting into MAS?
I'd like to study for a masters programme too. Do MAS has a policy of sending graduates for masters education? I want to stay with MAS, don't mind the bond at all. Just want to know if they have this policy. I can't seemed to find any information on this.
Thanks!

Are you serious?
1) Why took a degree in Banking and Finance, while actually you are interested in a "prison" job?
2) Are you sure what you learnt in Banking and Finance would benefit you in that “prison job”?
Hope you are not seeking a comfort start in career by choosing that "prison" job, just because you have some similar experiences in NS….All the best.

It’s very obvious that this guy is just another run of the mill fresh grad with a mediocre degree who wants the big money in banks and yet don't want the stress and long hours that come with it. You can tell when he say he want to join a bank yet exclude like 80% of the jobs in banks that sound tough.
People like that always end up with options at both extreme ends – joining a bank vs. a prison. Deep in their minds they are slack and want an easy life, but not willing to admit due to personal esteem or social pressure and "gian" the money at the same time.

Hope those “FTs” in my office doesn’t read this; they will probably laugh at us…
This is the standard/street-wise of our next generation....

It's quite sad to see fresh grads with this kind of mentality.... They want the social prestige that high income brings, yet must a "work life balance". Someone who is really serious about making big in banking finance might have deliema over joining an investment bank or a boutique hedge fund, but definitely not something as ridiculous as having a delima to join a bank or the prison service.
In fact I admire those who know their priorities early and admit that career and big money isn't what they want and join the public sector / sign on early. They seem to be much more contented and live a more fulfilling life.

And the best part is....this person is not even from a credible university like NUS/ NTU/ SMU. It's like saying...I earn $2k a month and I yearn to live in a condominium. He/she should just wake up from his dreams.
With such a degree (if u call it one in the first place), it would be hard to compete with the local Uni grads for a position in a good bank. It doesn't even matter if it is a first class or valedictorian. And if he/she manage to join the civil service, it would be a miracle because external degree/distance learning are usually not recognised.
Don't be disheartened though. The doors of a career in finance will still be opened for you, perhaps that of a financial consultant. Opps, did I not mention the word insurance agent.
