Actually his underemployment throughout our marriage has affected my mental health. It is definitely stressful as I have little savings after paying for all expenses.

Fortunately our property investments have helped a lot.

There is no need for you to be stressed. Since he has retired, you can retire too.
You both are rich. Just sell your investments and spend the cash. Enjoy life. No stress.

Is it enough? Our combined networth about S$3.5 mil only and we are around 50 years old. Is that enough with inflation and kids still studying? My hubby says not enough though I am more optimistic.

You must be joking right to say $3.5 mil net worth is not enough. There are so many families who survive with a fraction of your net worth.

If you liquidate all your investments into cash, I think it will be more than $2 mil. Not enough?

I think is enough but hubby think not enough.

Anyway, thks to property, it helped contribute to about S$1.5 mil into our networth.

Foreign competition is real. He was last in an Indian company and there was favourtism to Indians who took over his job.

As a GP, I see a lot of preemployment checkups and many are foreigners. Not that many locals.

With CECA, Indians are taking over jobs as Drs, IT staff and also all jobs except politician jobs. It is a very unfair trade agreement to local Sgpn.

Yeah and the Indians' body odour is really intolerable. Cannot imagine if they flood Sg, we will prob have to suffer air pollution.

I dunno about Drs and other jobs but for IT field it's 100% false lmfao

most of the indians in IT fields are contractors doing grunt work. at my company all of them literally stay for a year, 2 year max and get laid off no matter what. their code quality is absolute garbo quality and the top indian techies are all at FAANG in the US anyway

Foreign competition in SG sounds like BS to me. not the same poster as that guy who you're replying to btw, just chiming in my 2 cents

If you have enough no need to work anymore. Just spend it. Your kids can work hard and accumulate their own wealth. Parents who leave behind millions to their kids are spoiling them. Make them weak. I don’t plan to leave behind much to my kids. I’m thinking of retiring after downgrading from a condo to a HDB flat. Need the cash to retire early at 55.
