I don't own a European car and stayed in HDB. We are in our early 50's have a net worth of $3.8M.

Am thinking to retire when hit $6M networth of including a $600K HDB flat target by 54yrs. Current debt is only the HDB loan $27K. What sustain the passive income would be from the CPF,investment and private annuity aiming to be at least $100K/yr
Me And wife just cross 50 this year. Net worth about $6mil with 2 paid up condo. We foresee we will hit $8mil by age 55 which is ripe time to retire and enjoy.

Actually a realistic salary for once. This is about standard for 4-5 YOE in an international bank.

as much as I'd like to be "above the standard", already somewhat content i've crossed 100k pa by 30y/o. though i'm feeling drastically underpaid with lots of people in this forum already hitting 120-150k pa+ by 30y/o. :')

Rofl let's be honest,

if you need more than 1m for retirement, you're either trying too hard to indulge on insane luxurious goods in Singapore ( buying lambo, eating atas restaurant everyday, spa / massage vacation etc ) or just really really dumb and have 0 concept of how people retire.

good luck tho, enjoy working like a dog and blasting through your savings while you're all old and senile.

Success is relative. There are many people who are happy retiring in their HDB flat and spending $1k per person each month. They are happy meeting friends at the coffee shop chatting and relaxing all day. Their net worth is a far from a million. Are they not successful?

Not much difference with 100k, 120k or 150k. It is how you use your money and the lifestyle you lead.

yes. ppl keep talking about accumulating but never think how they are gonna spend . if you do not plan on how to spend, then ur just working aimlessly for retirement

Actually many fanciful things will not bring you happiness during retirement.

Only basic needs like food and healthcare will be priority.
