Is there news on any scaling back of COE supply? I don't think so. The tsunami of COE supply is coming! Let COE prices crash. Those who bought with $60k, $70k, $80k, $90k COEs can then scrap their cars when COE crash to $5k - $10k. I hope to SCRAP my relatively new car to a BRAND new car for FREE!

HUAT AH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It will sent the premium to shoot up again.
So everyone is rushing in to buy now
Even my friends who have relatively new rides are scrapping their cars!!

Huat ah!!

there's no official news about scaling back. but everyone is speculating when will LTA implement claw back? Reason is every bidding quarter, the quota is expected to rise. It will snowball. If LTA dont take this chance to claw back, imaging what will happen when they suddenly decided to announce clawback in 2017!! by that time, there are no more tsunami of quota. the COE will balloon to $200k. Car sales man will lose their job. The car industry will collapse!

I really hope the LTA can do something right. Announce the claw back now, and redistribute to the famine years. Please dont repeat the same mistake twice!

Let's all hope that COE will crash to $5k soon so that we can all change to a new car now.

COE will definitely crash below $10k in late 2016 or 2017.
Many people already lost money in current stock crash down 20% in last few weeks. Jobs will be lost too as our NTUC chief already warned us - this is going to hit Singapore real hard. Many SMEs will wound up and go bankrupt.

SIBOR has shot high as SGD dollar fell down.
US FED will keep squeeze the SIBOR mortgage payers by hiking rates 4 times this year, so mortgage payment will be UP by 30% or more.
Many will be forced to LELONG due to no rental income as gov will keep their gate closed for foreign workers.

Every decade, there will a big crash - conserve cash now to buy dirt cheap COE and properties coming soon in late 2016 or 2017. I have seen in 2009, 1998, 1985. It will be no different this decade.

It's good to have a crash every decade.
It help to reset the market and gives the next generation a cheap buying opportunity
Whether it's in stocks, car, or properties
Brutal but truth. What goes up must come down.

I am waiting for this chance for long time already

Yes, COE please crash. This allow families to buy 2 or 3 cars per family as they need it badly. They need one car for husband, one for for wife and one for grandparents.

Only if you are holding stable jobs.

What I did in 08/09 was to keep driving my old car, and instead used the war chest of money to pick up oversold stocks and my current home at a discount. When the stock recovered and my stocks value multiplied, and my car COE expired, I then bought myself a new car when the COE was around $27k. Not at the lowest, but at least I got the car & COE for "free" - paid for from the gains from stocks.

So, I am going to do the same again in the current stock market rout. Look out for and pick up oversold stocks and wait for them to rebound. The $150k you wanted to pay for a car, can grow multifold when invested in the right stocks at the "right" time. You can then have 1 or two "free" cars when the market recovers.

What are some of the good stocks that are considered oversold now? it's tempting for me to get in.

Be careful of the idea of buying stocks, many stocks remain low even after economy recovered. Some companies become bankrupt.

I would rather use my money to buy a new car when COE reach $2.

People wont say lah. It also depends on how low you go in and for long you are going to hold the stocks.

Anyway you think people will tell you for free here?
