Nowadays it is so common to see people who want show off their wealth to the middle and low income here, will include inheritance as part of their success, don't need to mention at all. If you discount the inheritance, most of them can only live a simple life, without much to admire.

I'm a grad but my spouse is non-grad, 48/49, our combined income is only $110k pa. We live in a humble 5 room flat, now worth only $600k, with mortgage of $200k remaining. Our combined cash plus cpf is $400k only. Our net worth is only $800k in total. We are in the low middle income group.
How can we retire? Do we need to work until 75? Any gurus here can advise?

If all children start to work when you are 65, u should seek their help and support. Start to save now and cut expenses, do consider to downgrade house when retire. You need very little after retire..... you are not alone, there are many more bad cases I have heard...don't worry too much, do take good care of your health and stay healthy

You are not alone. I'm also from the low middle income group. Our total income is only 100k pa. However we live in a condo which my grandmother gave me before she passed away, she was thankful that I was the one who took care of her for many years. I was surprised when she did that. When we retire, we will rent out two rooms from the condo and we will also get income from dividends and the CPF Life annuity.

Late 30s couple, I'm a professional, earning $150k pa. Hubby finds it difficult to secure permanent position, been doing contract work, earning only $30k pa. He doesn't want to drive a taxi, he don't want to lose face. If he drives a cab, and if he drives longer hours, I think he can earn $60k pa at least. We live in a condo, paid up, mostly financed by me. What should I do?

This is absurd advice. He is a good husband and father. He is kind and gentle to me, does not smoke, drink nor womanize. He treats our kids well and they adore him. We are a happy family, the only issue I have is that he is not earning much. However, with my income, we are coping well. Our expenses are $100k pa, so we save $80k pa. I just wished we can save more and I can go to more luxury holidays and buy more branded goods. Some of my friends say it is ok as long as we are happy. They say there are husbands who earn a lot and rich but they abuse their wife, womanize, and make the wife feel lousy. I'm feel blessed actually to marry him. How can I convince him to drive a taxi? Should I force him? Am I being selfish?
