Correct. The issue with OPS is that it is:
1. Full day work
2. No scope for pay increase once u hit a certain rank, its just yearly SI, u are basically just a farmer
3.Answerable to boss and demanding patients
4. need to do admin, dont get paid extra for it
5. work like a dog during the 8-5, no time to pee unless lunch time, very unhealthy mentally.
6. Now with HSG u do health plans and dont even get paid for it

Even if you farm and earn decently well, you need to to reflect on yourself and what satisfaction you get from your job. You may leave kiv plans for the next doctor , but do they get followed up on always? Are you really delivering the quaility of care you think you are delivering? Your latest data and evidence based guidelines that MMED like to quote is very good, but is that really what the patient wants? Do you really have the time to make a difference in 5 minutes? And sadly you dont get the meet some clientale that you would in GO life. i really enjoy treating some expats. very appreciative

Hsg health plans not applicable to ops right.
The whole idea of hsg is to decant patients from ops to pte

Public also u are stuck in the ranks with no room for progression really if u are not hq/cd/d then lifelong farmer , fpc maybe one seesion a week , rest of the pts mo continuity of care

The one thing that i love so much about my gp life is the patients , being able to follow up and get to know them and their families is wonderful. They are very appreciative, my CA always ends up with boxes if cookies or cakes. Appreciation is the key actually not the gift
In public no one appreciates u . I was from poly and it was “ dr when my turn, why other ppl call 9xxx my turn not here yet ah ?”

I am in my30s, i can make extra 1 k pm by doing 2 locum shifts per month . It is actually legal in private , i can probably retire very comfoetably by age 40s

This is my breakdown :
Salary - 13k
Aws-1m
Pb-1.5 m
Profit share- 500-100/month
Locum-1k per month, sometimes 2k but lets use 1k

Total : 214 k using lower profit of 500 and lower locum of 1k per month
I work mornings , 1 night and 0.5 saturday , my afternoons are free , clinic closes at 2 p
You are describing your work week?
Each week you do 1 night and the Sat morning?
Or is it in 1 month you do 1 night and a Sat am?
I would think this is weekly.

So in a week you work 8am-2pm mon to fri = 30h
1 night 6 to 10pm = 4h
1 Sat 8 to 11am = 3h
Total 37h a week

4 weeks = 148h
13k a month gives you hourly rate of $87.84/hr base
That's without bonus and profit share.

In addition you also work Sun mornings locum
Ie you are working 7 days a week most weeks!
Assuming that is also 8 to 11am 3 hours.
You work 40h a week most weeks.

13k a month x 12 = 156k
You get bonus 2.5m = 32,500
Profit share lets say 1k a month = 12k
Your locum extra lets say 2k a monh = 24k
Remember this is working all year round no off no holidays

Total $224,500

Total hours worked is 40 x 52 = 2080h

Hourly rate $107.93/hr.

I will congratulate you for doing well among some of your GP peers.

The details are important. Calculations show the reality for comparison and accounting.
If you think of medicine career as a business you have to look at some metrics.
I notice the doctors here like to make things a bit vague for whatever reasons.

Whether or not the weekday and weekend hours are at different rates matters when you are considering taking on those slots. But on average that's what I got.

For that poster GP who has afternoons off his overall hourly rate is $107.93

Yes I left out CPF. And you conveniently did not elaborate on how much that is - giving vagary once more.

CPF contributions are calculated on a max of $6000 a month wages. 17% Employer contribution = $1020 a month. Employee contributes 20% of their wages (on max of $6000) =$1200 a month.

Hence the additional employer CPF contribution assuming the same poster GP is doing locum with the same clinic is an additional $1020 per month = $12,240 p.a

This would make his total annual income to be $236,740

His hourly rate for the 2080h worked is thus $113.82

Do the math.
24h a week. 96h a month 18k a month.
$187.50/hr
That seems quite a lot higher than the market locum rates.
