Hey, so you just like the rest of us Drs lah. Realize the money not so good in medicine. But study so many years liao. Already work quite established. Money also is not bad just not great or good enough. So how? Find that very hard to convince self to quit medicine and start new career right? So just resigned to complaining. You are not alone. Part of me sometimes wish they cut salary of drs become so low that it makes sense to quit medicine. Govt very clever keep it at a certain level where it is not bad can still survive quite ok. If cut to like $1500 a month it will free many drs to justify quiting medicine and do something else!Young that time dunno how to assess properly what to study and what career to take.

Just console yourselves that you have at least fulfilled parents' desire to tell neighbors, family and friends , " My son/daughter is a medical doctor "

If you feel like throwing your savings away for a low paying gut wrenching job slaving under a ft doctor with a two years career advancement (due to no NS) over you, then sure go ahead and apply for medicine.

If you are just a kind and generous person, I suggest donating the money away to a charity of your choice would be a better option.

You describe my feelings perfectly. It's like a huge sunk cost... It's good to know what I am not the only one feeling this way. Can't really talk about this to my colleagues since most of them are super gungho.

Any plans on how to advance beyond this ceiling? Climb hospital administrator route? Cosmetics?

Change the game you are competing in. Eg sailing you point the sail to get you in the right direct deapite the direction of the wind. Everyone in the sailing competition. You cant win or compete. So what do you do? Change. Join motorboat speed race. Or even better get out of the water ans go on land. F1. Motorcross.

Try to get Psc lms or president scholarship at JC. This way u can ascend up the ceo quick then minister quick.

But if you buay gan, farmer yllsom. Then must either go the

Slog it hard way in public:
nowadays hosp ceo tend to be senior clinician.
A typical NUS yllsom grad CEP at age 45 is senior con.
Continue to take on more projects, quality improvement, spearhead events, develop new service, lead jci audits, also must publish and be leader of your field
Then become hod > cmb > ceo
But again these positions require a combination of luck and hard work
Must come to work at 7 and leave at 11pm daily

Or the slog it hard way in pte:
There are 3 option
Go out become gp , set up own shop
Go out be aesthetics , set up own shop
Go sell insurance be the top of the table, or be real estate agents. Use your contacts to sell things.
