How hard is it to actually pursue FCFPS now? Need wait awhile or right off the bat want do can do already. Feel like alot people who actually chose FM want some form of family life etc, so might not be very keen to pursue the fellowship isn't it?

A side question.
With the COVID 19, do u think Singapore lack icu doctors?
Do you think post covid will lack ICU doctors?
I am a medical officer interested in intensive care medicine and wonder if its worth it to join

If want family life. Best not to study medicine. If you are a doc you should know better.
Alternatively if want family life (low number of hours, easy work) then be prepared for lower income levels.
There is no free lunch. (except maybe at CME talks but you don't get paid going for those)

Not really. If you want to earn high income, you will need to work for it. Either spending hours training to become a specialist so you can earn big income for high value work (eg procedures, surgery), specialist work.
Or you spend those hours working long hours as a GP or locum earning more earlier but having that cap to earning power.
It is a slog no matter how you look at it.
You also slog in other fields. But there are promotions. You get salary increases. You get big bonuses when the company does well. These are not things you find in medicine. Medicine is more of a pay as you work kind of deal. And with time there is always pressure to lower the fees or keep it low and controlled rather than spiraling through inflation. Governments tend to want to control and avoid having medical companies and hospitals earning RECORD PROFITS. You have never heard of those kind of reports right?

Being a doctor won't make you a multi-millionaire, unless you specialize and are good at what you do.

Exactly my point. U will never make it big. its like u set up yourself to limit yourself. there is never success and in the end u will never be as well off as tech of banking. If you smart enough to do medicine, prob not smart enough not to see this haha. I think the covid just proved it too. strange if people still want to do medicine. for the medical officer who complain of low pay--> no one force you to do medicine and limit your income
