I understand this and I'll probably do the same. Just so that the environment I'm in will be pleasant but I need to get the job as an introvert 1st. I have attended a few psychometric test and I always wonder if I failed cos I put 'I prefer to work alone' cos that is the truth and it think that it can be done with the job I'm applying to. Preferring doesn't mean I cannot work in a team anyway.

Yes, most introverts learn to adapt to survive at work. No point bitching about boss or hoping employer will pay you & leave you alone.

I find it hard to get my point here. Everyone already got the 'extrovert is better mindset' 'introvert wants to be left alone' 'introvert should change and adapt to be like extrovert or take a low end job'. I am hoping for equal opportunity. Eg. A research team is looking for an independent researcher who can do something den collate and discuss together. I'm pretty sure an introvert can do it just as good. I'm not talking about the extremes by the way, hate talking and unwilling to talk kind. In Singapore, I'm pretty sure projects and other what not have prepared us well in being a team player. But, I want to get into the job as an introvert, go thru the interview saying I like being alone but I can work in a team just fine. Most positions/employers prefer extrovert even if it is suitable for introvert. Can anyone actually understand what I'm trying to say? #equality?

You are the one not getting the point. The point is the world doesn't give a shiit about your intro extro equality talk. Physically ugly people lose out compared to handsome boy/pretty girl in interview. Fair? No. So what? It's like that since human civilization.

You make it sound like you just discover a world changing concept nobody understand. To most people it sounds more like captain obvious.

You seem to have the wrong idea of what an independent researcher does. Independent researchers don't just receive work and then go off and do it alone. Before an independent researcher can even start actual research, he/she will have to apply for the research contract, assignment or grant. This will require networking to even find out about the opportunity and then there will be endless rounds of presentations, discussions and proposals. Sometimes, an independent researcher (depending on the field) will also have to approach third parties for sponsorship and funding. Research money doesn't fall from the sky. All this requires a lot of interaction.

Precisely. In a modern world, 99.9% of the professional level jobs require frequent interaction as complicated work need collaboration of many parties.

I am amaze that people here seem to think jobs like researcher, chef, back office engineer can just sit in one corner and do it alone without anyone to 'disturb' them.

Hi I've been reading this thread and I think we should cut him some slack, he is asking a genuine question and seek sincere answers.

As an introvert I understand your position. OK, some suggestions, have you heard of "copywriting"? Basically you will receive these assignments usually via email and you just need to correct, or improve the writings.

Thanks and good luck!

Thumbs down

There is a possibility that some people who respond with strong opinions routinely are actually some unemployed people with nothing constructive or insightful to share. Their main objective is to troll you, put you down with derogatory remarks and make you feel incompetent and miserable. Just because they can hide behind as an unregistered user.

To those who are asking genuine questions looking for sincere answers, do not take their replies seriously. For they have nothing of value to share with you except taking every opportunity to mock you either blatantly or subtly. Just my 2 cents.
