Welcome to the real world!

Well I'm not sure how you even got into university with the level of thinking you display. Since when was societal status determined by your innate intelligence or ability beyond a superficial level?

Intergenerational barriers to mobility have been present from the second you were conceived. Richer/more educated parents have sex only when they are confident of bringing up a child in a comfortable environment where lower parents merely do it to fulfil their carnal desires. In school richer parents have always provided for more tuition and enrichment to qualify for DSA/IP programmes as well as in preparation for O and A levels. Entering the workforce richer parents again are again able to create opportunities for their children to succeed in their careers as well, mentor them as well as build an entire support network of colleagues, bosses and consultants to further said goal at the Sunday dinner.

Again, it wouldn't hurt to use a few brain cells when you're reading your next Straits Times article or whatever BS Ong Ye Kung prepares to spew about every school being a good school while extolling the benefits of the SG 'meritocracy' as he takes a selfie with a certain North Korean kleptocrat.

Why is this so damn painful to read. Even though it’s so damn true, it’s so (how do I put it) in your face.

Social dawinism in a nutshell. That poster just wanted to type pretentious **** probably to boost his own ego

There is no such thing as a truly meritocratic society. Its always tainted with aristocracy and nepotism so the onus is on yourself to ensure that your degree supercedes others around you. Worry on what you can control first and get it in order first before bitching about society thanks

As I read some replies here I fear for the next generations of lawyers who lack this sense of kindness and justice to want to help to uplift others. Very very selfish and elitist mindset simply because of privilege upbringing.

Sigh. Law has such a bad rep cos it’s people think this way.
Social Darwinism has been there since the start.
It’s how much compassion people has that makes the difference.
Otherwise how are you different from others who expounds racial purity, etc.
if you want intellectual purity, how different are you from Hitler or the likes

you want kindness and justice from a lawyer, you fking get in line and pay for it just like everyone else. honestly stop with this social justice appeal to emotion crap la, that kind of attitude from a lawyer is either bottom feeder tier or NQ i wanna save the world naive.

Some posters such as the above sound like a bunch of non-lawyers overcompensating for their lowly station in life by coming on an anonymous forum and taking the ostensible moral high ground. Sod off, you yellow ribbon project losers!
