The guy is worried about losing his job and you calling him "insecure"? Man I know the internet makes things pretty impersonal but I really hope you guys arent this callous in real life

Can confirm, when I was a student and a trainee this forum made me anxious and despair because I wasnt any where near the upper echelons. Now I am fairly content with where I am though.

Hi, i’m not OP. But just seeking early advice. Im a 1 PQE lawyer in B4, did not do too well at “top UK school” - 2:2.

Seeking to move to an international firm (the real ones paying Magic Circle or above pay).

However, i’m in dispute reso. Anyone able to provide insight into which int’l firms with dispute reso / arbi might be open to considering me? Also, if someone has an insight into whether these firms are even hiring at all?

Concerned that the recruiters are all posting for transactional roles (eg Emily Tan’s latest post on linkedin). But there’s a dearth of availability for dispute reso/ arbi at int’ll.

you are right- very few of the international firms’ arbi practices are hiring. It is notoriously difficult to even get in to one of them. But if you’re from, i assume, oxbridge, you may stand a chance. Sidley, NRF, Jones day, A&O. Just ask another recruiter perhaps. Happy hunting!

It’s so simple. Just SEARCH ON LINKEDIN. “Xxx firm”, “arbitration associate”, “singapore” ?

That’s bigoted.

A 2:2 from my school is equivalent to a high 2:1 in NUS

I know people who barely scrapped 2-1 at uk schools who made it to magic circles and us firms. I know of 2-2s too. Its possible. Just work hard and don't lose sight of your goal.
