The US system is different, but to keep it simple: if you make it to MIT, take engineering, computer science or math. Make sure you top the class and interview with the wall st firms.
If you stay in Singapore, finance, law and accountancy are all ok.

To kyc: If possible you should try the western countries first, esp US, before returning to south east asia. Definitely ask for an asst prof position and put down around 100k USD as expected annual salary.
Hope this helps.

I am 33 years old, married with no kids. I have 11 years experience in IT industry; is a S$6000 p.m job(as a IT project manager) worth considering? There are no frills

Generally paid leaves goes anywhere from 14 to 21 days. Is this a substantial increase from your last job?

Hello Assistant Prof,
Thanks for the infos!
Hello Dragon,
Thanks for you reply too.
Due to my family reason, I guess I will not try in Western countries, my wife is a government servant of Malaysia, and we been leaving aprt since 2005, so as a compromise now I think is time to find somewhere that we can live together, e.g. Johor, where I could still work in Singapore and she could tranfer to Johor to continue her government work.
I will try to apply to NUS or NTU for an assitant prof. position. If not successful, i will then try out with IME or IMRS A* research instiute, I will ask for around SD 6K monthly pay.
I will update you if I receive any positive response from them.
Thanks again for your help and advices.

Hello everyone.
I am considering an expat offer in the coming weeks/ months in Singapore so inevitably landed on this interesting web site to gain further insight of what any Sg worker may inquire.
While I have found the last post from Media Boss very much appropriate and pertinent, I am surprised you guys even spent time in responding to this Ronaldo. Sometimes, we have to realise that making certain people more intelligent than they are is just not possible. This is one of the limits of human being. Ronaldo - pls feel free to (re) attack, you will get no response from me. On my side, my current role keeps me so busy that I just cannot afford being distracted for it as long as you do Ronaldo (I am off today, so do not try to find out a logical aggressive reply - not applicable).
All the best to the others and thank you for all such exchanges, which still bring some clarity for a (potential) newcomer like me. Cheers.
