anyway, I was a business development manager in Maybank. I would say I seldom ever work weekends as most of the bosses want to meet during their working hours. Vast difference between consumer cause consumer sales you will meet your client usually after their work or lunch time and weekends.

I transferred there after a backend ops contract position in maybank. my basic pay remained the same when I transferred but on top of that there was commission.
thanks for the info! may I ask how much is the comm? seems not bad if u can get your old basic + comm. is the target reasonable and what happens if you cannot hit it? thanks alot man first useful reply.

Work-life balance. I believe they seldom work weekends. Alot of time is also spent doing admin to submit to the credit side where I work for us to approve/reject the application. I believe most of their "OT" is to complete this as we sometimes get new cases coming in first thing on Monday morning. This is not often though so I guess they don't really work that much on weekends.

However, I do know of one lady who started working as a business development manager here and either did not do well / did not like the job. She transferred to the HR department after a year or so. This shows that not everyone is cut out / likes sales roles, though it may be more lucrative than backend / middle office positions.

I am too thinking of transferring to SME sales but I have yet to find out more details from HR.
thanks alot for this. useful as well. your current role is very similar to what I am doing now. ya i also wanna know more before i make the plunge. sadly need job stability as well as planning to start a family and sales may be abit risky. but hope this kind is relatively stable.

but paywise is lower than other bank. think they also hire on contract then only 2 years later convert to perm if they wan u to stay. but heard oso that maybank never retrench nor sack people so once u convert is iron rice bowl liaoz. u wan comfortable but not luxurious life can go there do the non-sales roles lor. will not be v rich but will be ok still la. ppl do sales 1 year maybe can afford buy car u do 5 years lor. in the end still ok la but see u want time with family+security or u want money+cannot perform=die

Anyone has experience in this job? Not in Maybank. But going for interview for one of the local banks. Would like to know more and hear more reviews.

Especially on the target (if do not hit target for 3 months consecutive, is it really sack)?

What else does a biz dev mgr do? Do they do credit analysis, review the clients accounts, or someone in the back end role will do it?

Biz Dev Mgr just find the product that is suitable for the client and just present to them?

Am thinking of whether to do RM (consumer sales) or Biz Dev Mgr (corp sales).

As I cant start a new thread, so I borrowed this thread!

Just an update, went to 2 rounds of interview with one of the local bank. Focus mainly on commercial property loans alone.

Think most probably wont be getting the offer.

In general, this field is not easy at all, so in order to have your own business, you have to work hard and make every effort.
I personally have plans to open my own business soon but I am still in the chapter of in-depth information because I think that information is the basis. The more details you know, the better you
will do in the field.
At the moment I came across some interesting articles about tips and tricks for a business and it is very useful and I even found out a lot of new things.
A little more time and I'm starting my own business. I hope I will succeed.
