It's overtime still can't figure out how to do....
12 hours can't do. You think stay back extra 4more hours can do??

If you looking for high pay and fast progression, then acn really not the company for you la. Join banks or mbb. Even gov jobs pay if you add up can be higher, eg. 4k + 13th month + 3 month pb.

See what you value more and decide bah. Good luck
Obviously people who are looking to join accenture are not the ones who can get into MBB easily right. Plus if you are gunning for tech consulting related roles, obviously you wont go for pure strategy houses like MBB (though recent years they also dabble into tech implementation projects. But then again they arent the first choice for tech implementation).

If you are looking for high pay and fast progression, you can still get it in acn. But in the right career track. People are hired in 2 of the many career tracks usually: client&market (CM) vs client delivery & operations (CDO).

CM career track promotes in this sequence:
Analyst
Consultant
Manager
Senior manager
Associate Director (special cases, machiam senior lt col kind of rank)
MD

CDO career track promotes in this sequence:
Analyst
Senior analyst
Team lead/specialist
Associate manager
Manager
Senior manager
Associate Director (also special cases)
MD

If you are a fresh grad, pls pay attention to the differences. The latter track is meant to promote slower and introduce more ranks inbetween with lower pay increments. The promotion increment is usually 20% or lesser.

The former is the fast tracked one. Usually analyst to consultant takes about 1.5-3 years. The pay increase will shock you. More than 60% usually.

People overtime for many different reasons. 1 of the reasons may be what you have typed, which is that they are trying to figure out something. But usually not the case. Fresh grads arent stupid. Once they dont know how to do something, do you think they will diam diam and try to silently figure it out? That kind of behaviour most probably exhibited by egoistic laojiaos who paiseh to ask peers or even subordinates on how to do something. Fresh grads get a leeway to ask everything and anything simplt because they are still in the stage of trying to learn. Furthermore, such asking should be encouraged because we all improve when we are open to learning from everyone. This is the attitude i feel everyone should have. Ego wont feed you, but knowledge and skills will.

People may overtime because clients want something the very next day and although it is an unreasonable request, it could be that the accenture management cant push it back any later and thats why people are forced to work overtime. Or it could be that the work was budgeted to complete in lesser days or even hours but end up it was overly optimistic to portray it as such. Or maybe it was meant to be quoted lower in order to get accenture's feet through the door for future engagement. Sort of creating the stickiness factor: once a firm chooses a vendor, unlikely they will change it for future implementation.

I urge everyone to think more and consider things not just from your own shoes, but from a management perspective and even from a business POV on why certain stuff are done a certain way.

Also, as consultants, please adopt the mentality of stepping back once in awhile and think of how to make things better. For example it could be like if you are assigned to design a deck of slides for training, what would be the first step you take? Could it be to look for existing training decks so you can refer to them? Could it be to talk to the business analyst team to understand the requirements and the progress of the UAT first in order to get a feel of what is needed to go through during training? Could it be to ask the person who assigned the work on who are the target audience for the trainings? What is the level of technical proficiency for such audience? Do i need to treat them like they dont even know how to operate a computer? Much less a system?

Wah essay but this point is so true. The problem with servicing clients is that they always make your life difficult, withhold information or last minute deadlines etc. As a result the analyst must do alot of OT lor

You sure or not? I'm a client and have interacted with ncs, Accenture, govtech, Microsoft...
There is no such thing as I want something by tomorrow and it will magically happen..

What usually happen is this...

I request need something by tomorrow.
The response I get after 1day delay is that its not possible then clarification on the item... Etc.
Ding dong then close to weekend liao. Then they say will do.

Next week still doing... Then finally give the work is not what we want.
Alot of ding dong in tech one la.

And you say until like client is so demanding.
Most likely you all never do the thing until last min need to show result.
So overtime the night before...
Tne rest of the time is just relax... Not really doing work one la

Don't bluff la. I don't believe client need something by tomorrow so often until you have to overtime EVERY Day.

Plus analyst only what. Not like you all write code etc.
That's even harder.

Nah. Sorry I don't work like this.
If you last min today need it for Friday.
I will only do it during office hours.
And just deliver what is completed during office hours.

Not going to overtime. Simple.
Either that or ask client to pay extra so can have 2resoirces working on it.
Then no need overtime.

The fact overtime is people slow at work during office hours.
How much actual work have you done since 9am today?
I bet not much. You probably just did like 30 mins work. The rest is just browse url or check email.
Or just do some documentation. Or chit chat la.
